Every booklet corresponds to a postage stamp.
By intentionally choosing binding methods and paper that align with the content, I aim to communicate my design research in a thorough yet visually digestible way.
There is emphasis on reaching others: mirroring both the core idea that a book creates a public space and mail art is incomplete without it getting in between the fingertips of the recipient.
The dense research culminates as its own object, an archive to be discovered, mimicking that of which you may find hiding under your bed.
The final artifact of my project aims to reframe books beyond just an object, but rather, see them as a gathering space, a conversation, and many folds coming together to form a whole.
It asks how how memory is preserved through tangible mediums, how they shape our identity, how we see our identity in objects... in the music we listen to... in the things we collect.
From CD booklets to the receipts hiding at the bottom of your bag, these folded pages evoke memory, connection, and reflection.
